For our last SAMPE Utah Chapter meeting of the 2006-2007 year, let’s have some fun!
The meeting will be at
Cabela’s
in Lehi.
From I-15 take EXIT 284 and go east – you can see it!
Arrive in the 6 to 6:30 timeframe (no later than 7). Wander around. The numerous wildlife exhibits and walk-through aquarium are museum quality, and the retail selection is over the top.
As you wander, look at the technologies that pique your interest - what do you know about that you could share that knowledge or story with the group for a few minutes later in the evening? Or what would you like to know about that someone else may answer? For example- how does a GPS work? Water filtering- which is best? Why are Dutch ovens such a staple standby? Waterproofing, windproofing, tent materials, fabrics, insulators, sleeping bags materials, stoves, optics, guns, fly rods, fishing line, archery.
As you wander, if you choose to do so, please pick out an item with which you could share a story or your materials or engineering knowledge, or even a funny story. Between 6 and 7, bring the item to the Conference Room, upstairs, at the back of the store, behind the Camping Department. Sign in your item at the door.
Dinner will be an open Buffet in the conference room from 7:00 to 7:30.
Starting at 7:30, the fun begins. We will go around the room, and each person who picked up an item will take an allotted amount of time (depending on the total number of items) and share his technical knowledge, fun story or wonder about the item. This will be a very fun and enlightening session!
At about 8:25, we will start giving out prizes! Did you tell the funniest story? Scariest story? Most unbelievable story? Did you ask the best question? Or did you merely have the good fortune to show up and have your name selected? Lots of opportunities to win!
We will finish a bit early, at 8:30. As you leave, please return your story item to the sales floor (or the cash register?). The store is open until 9 PM.
