The Utah SAMPE Chapter Welcomes
World Record Holding Mountaineer

Apa Sherpa
“On Top of the World”

Wednesday, September 24th, 6:00 P.M.
First Tier Room, Abravanel Hall
123 West South Temple
Salt Lake City, UT

Apa Sherpa holds the world record for the most summits of Mount Everest – Eighteen! Now a resident of Salt Lake City, Apa is widely recognized to be one of the greatest living mountaineers. Adhering to a simple philosophy that “Everest will always be there” and it is more important to keep all team members and Sherpa’s safe, Apa has led his teams to amazing success. He is the recipient of three medals of commendation from the royal family of Nepal as well as being recognized by mountaineering associations around the world.

Ironically, summiting Everest was never a goal for Apa. If he could have planned his life differently, Apa would gladly have given up the world records for a good education and a career as a medical doctor. That is why education for his own children and for the other children from his hometown of Thame is his top priority. It is this desire for his children’s education that has brought Apa to the United States – and Salt Lake City.

The Utah SAMPE Chapter will donate $5 per attendee to Apa Sherpa’s Educational Fund.

Additionally, Apa Sherpa will be available for photos and to personally autograph an 8 x 10 photo for you of his historic 18th summit for a $10 donation.
